Welcome

I have great pleasure in welcoming you to the St. Peter's website. We shall be updating the site frequently and seeking to improve the level of information that we can give you as visitors.
As a Catholic school, we pride ourselves on excellent pastoral care and support to our young people.

Our Catholic faith is vitally important to our community and we wish to ensure that every pupil at St. Peter's has the opportunity to succeed in all aspects of school life. The importance for pupils to develop and grow spiritually, socially and academically is a fundamental part of our Catholic Mission.

St Peter's is a small school where every pupil is known, valued and cared for.

Ian Swales MP

On May 4th, Mr Ian Swales MP (Redcar Constituency) received a warm welcome on his visit to St. Peter’s.  The purpose of Ian’s visit was to meet and discuss with three of St. Peter’s Year 11 students why they were taking part in the National Citizen Service.  St. Peter’s has a number of enthusiastic students who have taken up the six week programme which makes up the National Citizen Service.
On his visit to our School, the MP met up with three 16 year olds who are already enrolled on the programme and are very enthusiastic about it. They are interested in the scheme for various reasons including: learning new skills; meeting new people; boosting confidence and improving their CVs. In Redcar and Cleveland the scheme is being run by Safe in Tees Valley. They report that while initial take up is encouraging, there are still plenty of places available for 16 and 17 year old school leavers this summer. They are running a 'refer a friend' promotion throughout May - earning a £10 cinema voucher for every friend they get to sign up.

On the National Citizen Service, Ian said:

"This is a terrific opportunity for young people everywhere to experience new things and boost their confidence.''

"It is just one in a growing list of measures, which also includes the Pupil Premium and Youth Contract, introduced by the Coalition for young people.
"The Lib Dem's in Government are absolutely committed to providing equal opportunities and a fair start for all. I hope that school leavers from all over the region will consider enrolling on the programme."

Whilst at St. Peter’s, the School Council took the opportunity to interview Ian on all aspects of parliamentary life and his career.  The council members posed a range of questions from why he became a Politian to finding out about a typical day in the House of Commons.

Boro's Got Talent

For the second year we entered this competition held at The Riverside.

There were sixteen entries in all, judged by a team of Boro players. I am proud to announce that: ‘The Majors’ won first place and Rachel Carter won third place—both from St. Peter’s.

Brilliant News – Well Done!

Fashion Show

Following on from last year’s huge success, this was a fabulous and glamorous 50’s themed night with local and national designers exhibiting prom and wedding dresses.

Communion outfits were also modelled by pupils from our local primary schools. Designers to the stars included Kinu, Leggs, Kate Fearnley, Joi & Bliss,Lollipop, Perfect Partners and, for the men, Bakers were exhibiting their dapper suits.

In honour of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, our very own BTEC student fashion designers exhibited their Rule Britannia themed dresses. Students visit the Clothes Show Live every year and gain inspiration to design dresses to meet their specific design brief.

January Visit From Baroness Harris At St.Peter's

St.Peter's School was visited by Baroness Harris (member of house of lords) this month who came to St.Peter's to talk about polotics, parliment, and the role of the House of Lords.

The Baroness stated :- "I have visited many schools in the House of Lords Peers in Schools programme and I was absolutely delighted at the very warm welcome St. Peter’s gave me.  I was immediately impressed with the school; the students were fantastic, engaged, asked excellent questions and took a real interest in the work we do in the House of Lords. My visit was organised superbly by the school and I thank everyone for that.  It is always a pleasure to visit successful and happy schools – and St. Peter’s was one of the best I have visited. I greatly look forward to being invited again – and in the meantime to welcoming its students to the House of Lords when they come to visit."
