Following the Section 5 inspection in Feb 2017, the remit and responsibilities of the LMB were taken up by the Board of Directors for St Oswalds Trust who appointed an interim Rapid Improvement Team as of July 2017 to undertake all aspects of governance in relation to standards and school improvement. The RIT meets once per half term to perform this function.

The LMB retains responsibility for all matters in relation to the Catholic life of the school. 

Background and Context

On 21st February 2017, Ofsted carried out a section 8 inspection of St. Peter’s Catholic Voluntary Academy (“the Academy”). During that inspection the HMI Lead Inspector deemed that a section 5 inspection was required. With the exception of Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare, all other elements of provision were judged to be Inadequate. The academy’s overall effectiveness was therefore judged to be Inadequate. With regard to leadership and management an external review of governance was recommended.

Immediately following the inspection, at a meeting of the Trust Board on 23 February 2017, the powers delegated to St Peter’s Local Management Board were removed and its roles and responsibilities discharged to the Trust Board.
